Tap the green "+" button on the Home or Plants tab. Fill in your plant's name, species, and care details, then tap "Add." You can also add a photo from your camera or photo library.
From the Home dashboard, tap the "Water" button on any plant card. You can also tap "Water Now" from a plant's detail page. PlantPal automatically logs the watering and updates your schedule.
Your data is stored on your iPhone and automatically synced to your personal iCloud account. This means your data is backed up and can be restored if you reinstall the app or switch to a new device signed into the same Apple ID.
PlantPal Pro is an optional one-time purchase ($2.99) that unlocks premium features: smart care tips, analytics dashboard, PDF plant reports, photo growth comparison, batch watering, and CSV export. All core features (adding plants, watering, care tasks, health logging, photos, notifications) are completely free.
Go to Settings and tap "Restore Purchases." This will check your Apple ID for any previous PlantPal Pro purchase and restore access. You can also tap "Restore Purchases" on the upgrade screen.
PlantPal uses local notifications to remind you when plants need watering. Reminders are scheduled based on each plant's watering frequency and the date it was last watered. Make sure notifications are enabled for PlantPal in your iPhone's Settings.
Care tasks are recurring activities like fertilizing, pruning, repotting, rotating, or misting. You can set up care tasks for each plant with custom frequencies and get reminders when they're due.
From a plant's detail page, tap the "+" button in the Health section. Choose the issue type, severity, and any treatment applied. You can mark issues as resolved when they improve.
Yes! Go to Settings to export your data. Free users can export as JSON. PlantPal Pro users can also export as CSV or generate beautiful PDF plant reports to share with friends or plant sitters.
Sign in with Apple is optional and helps facilitate iCloud sync and account recovery. PlantPal is fully functional without signing in — your data syncs to iCloud automatically as long as you're signed into iCloud on your device.
Make sure notifications are enabled for PlantPal in your iPhone's Settings app (Settings > PlantPal > Notifications). Also check that Do Not Disturb and Focus modes are not blocking PlantPal notifications.
Open the plant's detail page, scroll to the bottom, and tap "Delete Plant." You'll be asked to confirm before the plant and all its records are permanently removed.
